Our Mission

The Dan Devereux Memorial Trust helps children and young people in the St. Louis metropolitan area access educational opportunities that build the academic foundation, life skills, and confidence needed for long-term success.

Established in 2001, the Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization created to expand access to quality education for students facing economic and educational barriers.

Education and employment remain powerful pathways to opportunity. Historical research cited by the Trust shows that concentrated poverty and chronic truancy have long placed East St. Louis students at significant risk of academic underachievement. While these figures reflect earlier studies and school reports, they help explain the need that inspired the Trust's work and the ongoing importance of educational support in the region.

The Trust provides educational opportunities for students who have the potential to succeed in high school, college, and beyond but may lack the financial resources to access stronger academic environments. By helping cover the cost of private middle schools and college-preparatory high schools in the St. Louis area, the Trust gives selected students a better chance to reach their full potential.

The annual cost to educate a student at one of these schools can exceed $20,000, making scholarship support essential for families who could not otherwise afford these opportunities.
